"Dead or Love?" is the twelfth and final episode of the second season of the Masamune-kun's Revenge R anime. It was released on September 18, 2023.

Summary

What is the ultimate fate that awaits Masamune, Aki, and Yoshino?

Plot

The spring comes. Masamune and Yoshino are now dating. After Yoshino goes out on a date with Masamune, Aki is left alone. She gets hungry and decides to cook for herself as she should stop relaying on Yoshino.

As the new school year start, the students gather to see in which class they are. Tae, Neko, Kojuro, Kanetsugu and Yoshino all end up in Class E, however Aki and Masamune end up in Class A. Aki is shocked and doesn't want to, however Masamune doesn't mind it. During the first day at school, Masamune keeps talking casually to Aki, who feels annoyed as it reminds her of the time they were dating. Wanting to keep her distance from him, she goes to eat lunch alone at her usual place. Masamune joins her, bringing some more food and wishing to apologize, however Yoshino stops him and drags him away. She tells him that now its not the time and asks him to wait a bit more.

Aki decided to change and start a new. She couldn't get over Masamune the way she was, so she decided to change some things and cut her long hair. Yoshino is surprised and states that she got it wrong and that she just wanted to play a little trick on her. She then tells Aki to go to the classroom at school, where Masamune is waiting for her. As Aki leaves, Yoshino recalls the time she went to see Masamune. On her way, she realized that on that lonely place, a person can't just think of someone for eighth years, without having feelings for them.

At school, Aki sees a letter for her and figures its the same thing she did to Masamune. She goes around and ends up seeing Masamune outside. She tells him to stay there as she will come to him, but since the windows were closed, he couldn't hear her and also went to her location, and the two ended up switching places. The two then see each other again and they again head towards each other. After they meet, Masamune tells her that he wanted to apologize, but Aki states he doesn't need to apologize for dating Yoshino. Masamune then reveals that he isn't dating Yoshino. She had asked him, but he refused. Back then, Yoshino tells Masamune that she loves him. Masamune thanks her for coming and telling him that, noting that she was always there for him, however he needs to say the same thing to someone else, but this time it will come from his heart.

Since they are not dating, Aki wonders for what he wants to apologize. Masamune then explains that when he was fat, he thought that Aki chased him away with really mean words, which is why he came to this school and wanted revenge. However he realized he is wrong and didn't know what to do now and made her suffer. He wrote her a letter, which he sees that he still haven't read, but hoped that she will find it tomorrow. Aki then opens the letter and sees that he asks her to be his girlfriend. He then again asks her. Aki thinks about it and agrees, but wonders if it all will be fine and if he can even kiss her. Masamune confirms, but it takes him a few moments to gather the courage to do so. However as they kiss, Aki feels embarrassed and slaps him while yelling.

Later, at the 42nd school cultural festival, the post-festival party starts. Tae and Kojuro feel that they don't have much time left together as there isn't that much time left in school. Neko felt that Masamune liked Yoshino, but she explains that he thinks of her as his "master" and feels safe around her, so he doesn't get hives from her. The two agree that lots of things happened, but it all seems to have turned for the best. At the last cultural festival, the winner from the Snow White competition was supposed to dance with Aki, however as Masamune and Aki playing in the same stage, everyone forgot about it. Now, Aki and Masamune prepare to dance. Aki states there was a chance that she would dance with Kanetsugu, but Masamune explains he would have stopped it, no matter what. Masamune then invites Aki for a dance. Aki states she can give him the perfect nickname and if he wants to hear it, but Masamune states he will asks about it later.
